White sunglasses and red flower bag
I dont know where to begin-I have a short story behind this outfit and how I found what is the start of this outfit (to me) while thrifting. I went thrifting on Saturday with a friend. the original plan was to go to this HUGE vintage market that was being hosted at the old Barneys in Flat iron... but when I pulled up saw the line not only went all the way down 3 blocks but wrapped around? yeah...we quickly had to revise plans and go else where lol.

While thrifting, I got this super cute, cropped Cherry sweater from Beacons Closet! I immediately knew I wanted to style it with this 1950's style, high waisted cropped pair of capri pants from Vixen by Micheline Pitt. I originally tried this outfit with a white tank for the base color top, but it looked awkward. Once I put the sweater on, I didn't like the lack of contrast-it made for an uninteresting look (strictly speaking for the top portion of the outfit). I ultimately decided to switch up my top with the red, satin bustier top I find myself reaching for very often from Aritzia. The red bustier top matched so perfectly and I was ridiculously excited about it. Theres something about when an outfit comes together unexpectedly that brings me the highest level of inexplicable joy..probably more than the average person.

I feel like gearing for a monochromatic outfit with red as the base COOOOULD be seen as alot or potentially overpowering by many people, but the addition of the sweater with the knitted cherries brings an element of play and lightheartedness to the outfit that I love.

Cherry kitted sweater, red bustier top, high waisted capri pant, pointed toe shoe
Theres something about wearing sunglasses with a look that really finishes it for me, so of course I had to reach for my white thick rimmed sunnies to finish the "matchy-matchy" look! Theres something so exciting to me about finding a cute and unique thrift store find and being able to transform it into a cohesive, well balanced outfit. Leave me a comment about your thoughts;did you like the look or not? What element of this lil' red ensemble was your favorite? Mine is the cherry sweater and pointed toe shoe (even if they do make my feet scream after walking more than 5 minutes in them)
